DESCRIPTION:Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking talk by Dr John Bloom\, where the mysteries of ancient history come alive! Drawing on decades of research at the intersection of archaeology\, history\, and ancient texts\, Dr Bloom takes audiences on a journey through some of archaeology’s most fascinating discoveries — revealing how physical evidence from the past illuminates the world’s oldest stories and challenges the way we think about history and culture. Whether you’re curious about ancient civilizations\, archaeology’s role in uncovering our shared human past\, or how discoveries shape our understanding of sacred texts\, this talk will inspire you with big ideas from the ancient world brought vividly into the present. \nThis is a free event\, though an offering for our speaker would be appreciated! \nAbout John Bloom\, PhD \nJohn Bloom earned a PhD in physics from Cornell University\, then went to seminary and completed a second PhD in Ancient Near Eastern studies (Old Testament backgrounds) so that he would have advanced formal training in both science and theology. For the past 29 years he has taught physics at Biola University. He also started the Master of Arts in Science and Religion program at Biola’s Talbot School of Theology in 2004\, in collaboration with the Christian Apologetics program. Bloom enjoys teaching courses that integrate Christianity and science because of the importance of these topics both in today’s culture and to other scientists.
